Love is Strange is about two men in love. Ben, a retiree who paints, and George, a music teacher and private tutor. The movie begins with Ben and George getting married after the same-sex marriage bill passed. They have a happy wedding surrounded by loving family in a city that they love. Everything changes when George is fired from his job at a Catholic school because of his sexuality and marital status. Unable to afford the apartment that they have, Ben and George are forced to live with separate family members until they find a new place that they can afford.

Love is Strange is about love and family. A touching and sweet film that shows viewers how Ben and George cope with being separated for the first time in about twenty until they find an affordable home. Love is Strange is not a film that tackles any major social issues. It just gently brushes upon the issue of sexuality before focusing on the interpersonal relationships between Ben, George and their families. Love is Strange is a movie to watch when you want to relax and enjoy a love story that is not action and drama packed.
