Amy Townsend (Schumer) grew up with a dad who taught her that monogamy was unrealistic – and she’s taken his advice to heart ever since.

One night stands are her specialty: she gleefully enjoys men, sex and booze, with no aspirations to settle down for one guy. Until, inevitably, her job as writer on a men’s magazine sees her meeting Aaron (Hader), a sports-medicine doctor who seems fun, intelligent, and, most terrifyingly, interested in a second date.

Up until now, Amy Schumer has largely been a star of TV (and viral videos from her TV show, including the widely-seen “Last F***able Day” video with Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Writing her own movie debut, she’s combined with the director who launched a trend of idiot-man-child comedies with brains and heart, Judd Apatow, for a film that gives us many of the same pleasures. All of the fun and recklessness of being young and foolish, together with the increasing sense that growing up is something that has to happen sometime and does have its own separate rewards.

With an array of great supporting actors (everybody from Tilda Swinton to WWE’s John Cena), this is a distinctly modern comedy about finding your way through life and love while having a great deal of fun along the way.

  • Seth MacFarlane
  • Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin, Wellesley Wild
  • Mark Wahlberg, Seth MacFarlane, Amanda Seyfried, Morgan Freeman

Anything by Seth MacFarlane is crude, rude, ridiculous, repetitive and hilarious. He is a politically savvy genius, obsessed with pop culture and fart jokes. His claims to fame – “Family Guy”, “American Dad”, A Million Ways to Die in the West and Ted – are all of this ilk.

So, if you’re not a fan, or are disinterested in the disgusting and ludicrous – this film is not for you. But if, like many, the offensive and the downright insane tweaks your fancy then Ted 2 will be up there with the rest as a must-see for you.
Ted, a sentient, bong-smoking teddy bear, is now married, and wants to have a baby with his human wife (which requires IVF and a donation from Marky Mark). But Ted is discriminated against, and is denied these rights by the government. To be able to achieve these goals, Ted has to prove to the High Court that he qualifies as human in the eyes of the law.

The cast is packed with legends – Seth MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg play along with Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Morgan Freeman, Patrick Warburton, and hilarious cameos from the likes of Liam Neeson, Jay Leno and (of course) Flash Gordon to name a few.

So grab your ‘Thunder Buddy’ and get ready for a hilarious and ridiculous ride as Seth MacFarlane once again holds a mirror up to contemporary American society.
