Screening Change: MAN UP + THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES on August 21

10th August, 2015

We regret to inform you that, due to availability changes, we can no longer screen MAN UP and THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES on FRIDAY 21 AUGUST as originally scheduled. In their place, we will instead be screening two new films: MADAME BOVARY followed by MISS JULIE.

Starting at 7:30 PM, MADAME BOVARY tells the tale of a young woman (Mia Wasikowska) who impulsively marries a small-town doctor in order to leave her family’s provincial life behind. But she soon becomes bored with her new husband and begins to seek excitement and status outside the bonds of her marriage. Also starring Rhys Ifans, Ezra Miller and Paul Giamatti.

Then at approximately 9:30 PM, MISS JULIE depicts a heated midsummer’s night in the Irish countryside in which an unsettled aristocrat’s daughter (Jessica Chastain) encourages her father’s valet to seduce her – leading to a compulsive game of seduction, manipulation and power.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change.

WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
................................................................

This week at the Film Group, we screen Pixar’s latest, INSIDE OUT, followed by their very first feature, TOY STORY, in a fun-filled double feature on Saturday. Plus, Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart in the award-winning CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA, WWI romantic drama TESTAMENT OF YOUTH, the big-screen movie version of ENTOURAGE, and late night thrills with acclaimed horror flick IT FOLLOWS.

• Wed 12 Aug @ 7:30 PM: CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA

A veteran actress (Juliette Binoche) must face an uncomfortable reflection of her life when she agrees to take part in a revival of the play that launcher her career 20 years earlier. Also starring Kristen Stewart and Chloë Grace Moretz.

• Thu 13 Aug @ 7:30 PM: TESTAMENT OF YOUTH

When WWI breaks out in England, a young woman (Alicia Vikander) puts her life, her education, and her relationships on hold to serve as a voluntary nurse on the frontlines, where she experiences the futility of war firsthand.

• Fri 14 Aug @ 7:30 PM: ENTOURAGE + IT FOLLOWS

The boys are back in ENTOURAGE with movie star Vincent Chase and his friends – Eric, Turtle, Johnny and Ari – back in business on a risky new venture as they navigate the capricious, cutthroat and celebrity cameo-filled world of Hollywood.

Then, in IT FOLLOWS (at approx. 9:15 PM), after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, a young woman finds herself plagued by visions and the sense that someone (or something) is following her in this highly original modern horror film.

• Sat 15 Aug @ **7 PM**: INSIDE OUT + TOY STORY

In INSIDE OUT, a young girl and the emotions inside her head – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness – struggle to adjust to their new life after her family relocates to San Francisco, in this universally acclaimed latest film from Pixar.

Then, celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pixar’s very first film, TOY STORY (at approx. 8:45 PM), in which Woody the cowboy doll finds his position as a young boy’s favourite toy threatened by the arrival of a Buzz Lightyear action figure.
