Action flicks, comedies, sci-fi epics, animated family films and an underrated cult classic feature at the Film Group this week. When a disgraced 911 operator (Halle Berry) takes a call from a teenage girl who has just been abducted, she is forced to confront her past in order to save the girl's life.

After his son is imprisoned for drug trafficking, a desperate father (Dwayne Johnson) volunteers to work as an undercover informant to earn his son's freedom.
• Fri 23 Aug @ 8 PM: AFTER EARTH followed by LAST ACTION HERO
A thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape from Earth, a father and son (Will and Jaden Smith) crash land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous planet in sci-fi epic AFTER EARTH.
Then, in the underrated 1993 cult classic LAST ACTION HERO (at approx. 9:45 PM), a young movie buff is magically transported into the fictional world of his favourite cinematic action hero (Arnold Schwarzenegger).
• Sat 24 Aug @ **7 PM**: EPIC followed by THE INTERNSHIP
In EPIC, a teenager discovers a tiny civilisation and finds herself caught in a battle between the forces of good and evil. Featuring the voices of Colin Farrell, Amanda Seyfried and Christoph Waltz.
Then, in THE INTERNSHIP (at approx. 8:45 PM), two salesmen (Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson) talk their way into a coveted internship at Google, where they must compete with younger geniuses for employment.

Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman star in the technological thriller PARANOIA, which follows a young blue-collar worker (Hemsworth) who finds himself breaking the law to get ahead in his entry-level job. But he is soon discovered and confronted by the company’s CEO (Oldman), who agrees not to turn him in on one condition: he infiltrates the competition to spy on a rival technology magnate (Ford).
Directed by Robert Luketic, PARANOIA is in cinemas courtesy of Icon Films from September 5, but we’ve got your chance to see it early at Dendy Cinemas’ special red carpet gala screening of the film. The event will be held on Wednesday 28 August, kicking off with pre-screening drinks and canapés at 6:00 PM, with the film beginning at 6:30 PM.
