PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ACT YOUNG GREENS

For more than 50 years, environmentalist Bob Brown has been fighting for Australia, from the Franklin campaign for Tasmania's last wild river, to today's battle for the Tarkine rainforest. The enthralling documentary explores the symbiotic relationship between man and nature as it interweaves Brown’s life with the story of Australia’s gargantuan eucalypts, both giants in their own worlds with a legacy that will outlast their existence. As the trees grow from seedlings to forest elders, Brown too evolves, from a Tasmanian GP to environmental activist, politician and leader of the Greens, becoming a folk hero and queer icon along the way.

Stunningly shot and poignantly poetic, The Giants presents terrain well worth exploring.

In director Ti West’s X, audiences were introduced to an ageing homicidal farmwife, who wasted no time in slaughtering the cast and crew making a pornographic film on her farm.

This prequel – the second in a trilogy – takes us back to 1918, with young Pearl (Mia goth) trapped on her family farm tending to her ailing father (Matthew Sunderland) under the watchful eye of her oppressive mother (Tandi Wright). Her husband is off at war, leaving her lonely and dreaming of the glamorous life she’s seen only in the movies. It’s not long before Pearl’s ambitions, temptations and repressions collide in a stunning, X-traordinary origin story – and a glorious showcase for scream queen Goth.
