Robin Monroe (Anne Heche), a high-powered New York magazine editor, arrives on a South Pacific island with her boyfriend Frank (David Schwimmer). He proposes marriage and she accepts. But before they tie the knot she must fly to Tahiti for an emergency photo shoot. Her pilot, Quinn Harris (Harrison Ford) discovers that he doesn't get along with her while en route. Out of the blue a thunderstorm materialises, knocks the plane out of the sky and they crash land on a stunningly beautiful tropical island that just so happened to appear at the right time. After several perilous adventures their platonic relationship is gradually transformed. Meanwhile, Schwimmer mourns his loss by finding consolation in the arms of Ford's masseuse. Despite the predictable storyline, the chemistry between Ford and Heche keeps this film above water.
