I went into this film not expecting much. When I left the cinema I was quite surprised by its quality. The premise is that Amy Benic (Sorvino) is an architect who goes on a holiday to an isolated town. There she meets Virgil Adamson (Kilmer), a blind masseuse and is infatuated by him. They start to have a relationship and Mira learns of the hard life of a blind person. They move to the city and continue to fall in love. The plot moves on in a very interesting and involving manner. The film handles the prospect of blindness very well and in a positive way.
The movie is based on a true story and comes off well. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and believe that it would be enjoyed by a wide range of people. I was very impressed by the way in which the film handles a possibly volatile subject. This is engrossing and I highly recommend it because when I left the cinema I was glad to have seen this. Even though it may not leave you feeling giddy I believe that this film will move you in some way.
