The premise is that the most beautiful and popular girl in school is not allowed to go out on a date. This is unfortunate for she is being wooed by, among others, an alien (Tommy from 'Third Rock from the Sun'). They confront her dad, who makes the condition that she can date only if her sister is also dating. In comes Australia's own Ledger to try to woo the second sister. From this there can be only problems although the ending and problems are very amusing

This is a remake of Shakespeare's 'Taming of The Shrew' and it lives up to a modern telling well. While this film is arguably not as well written as the Bard's tale it suits the nineties well. This is a good film and one that should leave you pondering if you are going about or went about dating the wrong way.
