Whether or not you've seen 'South Park' on TV, you're in for a shock. Unrestricted by what they can't say or show on television, Parker and Stone have pulled out all the stops to be as crude as they possibly can. They only agreed to make a 'South Park' movie on condition it could be R-rated [Oh yeah? I heard they only narrowly ducked an NC-17 by making it Bigger, Longer and Almost Uncut-Ed.]
Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Kenny sneak into the new Terrence and Philip movie, full of (unbleeped!) bad language and coarse humour. Suitably impressed, the boys start repeating it at school, much to the chagrin of teachers, parents and Mr Mackey. All hell breaks loose in South Park. Kyle's mother does what she does best-complain-and the community responds by installing V-chips in their brains, sentencing Terrence and Philip to death and going to war with Canada.
Unlike Beavis & Butthead, which was a movie length episode of the TV series, the deliberate attempt to make the 'South Park' movie different from the series doesn't appear to have worked very well. There are some truly hilarious one liners and songs, but they don't seem to have tried very hard to sustain the story beyond the first half hour. The highly padded plot could easily be condensed into a 30 minute TV episode. Nevertheless, 'South Park' fans will love it.
