I am a firm believer in the no sequels rule. There are very few exceptions to this rule - perhaps Godfather 2, but I digress. Carrie 2 is a sequel that probably should not have been made. Not that it is so very dreadful. It is just a rather plain and straightforward teen horror/coming-of-age movie. But it is also an unnecessary re-telling of a classic movie. Why bother? We know the story: a young girl tormented at school discovers that she has the power to move objects and kill with her mind, then she goes wacko and kills everyone at the school formal. The cast members do their best, which is not bad at all, and there are some nice links back to the first film, but if you are a big fan of Carrie you should leave your expectations at the door. For those of us who just like a decent story and lots of gore, ignore the sequel tag and pretend it is a stand-alone movie. You will probably like it.
