Run Lola Run is a great movie. You should see it. It's by a German director, and it even has subtitles; check that for authenticity. It has a sexy chick with red hair. She runs a lot. It's a great movie. The soundtrack actually suits the movie. No violins in this soundtrack, either. If you like a film of which you can't predict the ending(s) by the title, go see it. If you were expecting an artsy wank-off write-up of this film, you've come to the wrong place... (No quasi-bourgeois subliminals for me, thank you.) Seriously, a great film, well worth your time. Watch out for the dude on the bike.

The setting is a boy's school in the French countryside. The schoolmaster (Meurisse) is a petty tyrant who rules his little world, consisting of his students, his wife (Clouzot) and his mistress (Signoret). Eventually, the two women decide that they've had enough, and hatch a plan to do away with their common problem. From the very beginning, you can sense that this is a really twisted little situation. Les Diaboliques literally reeks with atmosphere. The creepy air of paranoia and madness builds with an inexorable momentum. If you enjoyed Wild Things or any of the twitchier Hitchcock films you should be in for a fun time with Les Diaboliques. The plot doesn't so much twist as writhe.
A final note - this Les Diaboliques was made in France in 1955. The 1996 re-do with Sharon Stone is not even fit to mop up the bloodstains from this version. Boycott dumb Hollywood remakes - see the original and best.
