Lincoln Rhyme (Washington) was a homicide investigator and good at his job until one day he was involved in an accident that left him crippled. Now he is in constant intensive care under the watchful eye of his nurse (Queen Latifah). In another part of town a couple is kidnapped in a taxi and taken into the middle of nowhere. Amelia Donaghy (Jolie) is a young cop who comes across a murder scene, and her quick thinking and almost Macgyver like instincts are able to save some crucial evidence in the beginning of a serial killer's spree. Rhyme recruits her to be his eyes, ears, and legs on the scene, and they work to discover the killer's identity and save future victims.
This is a very tense and sometimes shocking film. There are the bizarre and complex killer's M.O., intricate murder scenes and a constant shifting of suspects. This all works well to make you constantly wonder who the killer is and whether they are going to catch him in time. You become very involved in this film and that only helps to make you more tense and nervous as the movie progresses.
