The Mummy Returns is about a mummy (introduced to us in The Mummy) that returns! Yep, that's pretty much the plot. It's from there that the movie adds actions sequence after action sequence in fast and furious succession. Much of the silliness that was so endearing about The Mummy is retained; my favourite line: "By putting on that bracelet you have inadvertently triggered a series of events that will lead to Armageddon" an example of the overboardness that is taken so seriously in many movies of this genre.
An overview of the movie includes: vast computer generated armies; beautiful scantily clad women in fork battles; wrestlers; curses; undead hordes climbing the sides of buildings; swordfights; double decker bus chase scenes; Around the World in Eighty Days inspired balloon machine; amazing CGI effects; and a pigmy mummy horde!
The whole cast has returned for this movie that actually is action-adventure. The Rock (even you don't know him, he's a charismatic professional wrestler) has been added in a cameo role and finds himself computer-generated for half of his screen time. The movie's makers have assumed you know the characters, and so they aren't built upon much, the movie is sent into over-drive (sorry for clich((eacute))) from the start.

When Star Wars was made in 1977 it was acclaimed as being "the next great step in special effects". Well, 14 years earlier, this movie had the same billing.
It is based on the epic legends of prince Jason sent by wise but evil king Pelias on a perilous mission to steal a golden fleece, in order to reclaim his father's kingdom.
The finest men of the Greek world, including Hercules, volunteer to help because it seems like a good lark, and they set sail under the protection of goddess Hera (played by Blackman) who has it in for Pelias. It is typical for Greek legends to have the gods fight amongst each other, so despite Hera's best efforts, Jason's mob are confronted with a multitude of nasties, which won so much acclaim for their animator, Ray Harryhausen.
Does Jason get his kingdom? Does he get the girl? Does anyone know what happened to Todd Armstrong? Come along and find out!
