Chris Cole (Wahlberg) was born to rock. His girlfriend Emily (Aniston) believes his talent could take him all the way-but Chris worships Bobby Beers, the lead singer of heavy metal legends Steel Dragon. By day he fixes photocopiers but by night he is the front man of a Steel Dragon tribute band, giving audiences a perfect imitation of Beers's vocals. A little on the obsessed side, he is dumped from the band, to his devastation, until a phonecall changes his life forever. So what happens when your dreams suddenly come true?
Isn't it amazing what a haircut can do for a person. Jon Bon Jovi proved it when he got his locks chopped off (he's quite good looking under all that hair). Wahlberg emphasises the point here (the 80s have so much to answer for). This movie has a great soundtrack that needs to be experienced in Dolby Surround Sound (lucky our theatre is equipped with that). We even get a bit of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch (he'll always be Marky Mark to me). Rock Star doesn't take itself too seriously and makes fun of the stereotypes of heavy metal rock in the 80s, so sit back and be entertained.
