Spence Olham (Sinese) has created the ultimate weapon for a war against an alien menace that uses human-lookalike androids as bombs. But when he is himself accused of being an android, he's on the run from a government investigator (D'Onofrio), trying to prove that he's really who he thinks he is.

Imposter is SF (Science Fiction) on a lowish budget ((mdash)) resembling an 'Outer Limits' episode expanded a little for the big screen, with most of the special effects stolen from other movies (like recycled footage from Starship Troopers and Gattaca). But that just means you get a bit more of a thinking person's SF action movie, with the ideas (how do you prove your humanity?) getting just as much play as the standard running, jumping, and hitting people inherent in action movies. This isn't an SF spectacular such as most other Phillip K. Dick adaptations, like Minority Report or Total Recall; more like the underrated Screamers in its stripped-to-the-bone nature. But for those of you who like your SF without the bells and whistles, this should float your boat.
