When I saw 'Blue Poles' for the first time, aged six, I said it was stupid. I was surprised when my mum told me that it was one of the world's most acclaimed works of art. I probably would have been equally surprised if she'd told me that its painter, Jackson Pollock, was interesting enough to be worth making a film about. Then again, Ed Harris is one of the finest actors in the world, and could probably pull off a highly watchable portrayal of Fred Durst. Taking on a man as complex and unpredictable as Pollock, however, Harris would be impossible not to watch. I haven't seen the movie, and I know nothing about the man, so I can't offer you any guarantees that you'd be sensible to believe; but if I find myself nearly as bored by Pollock as I was by 'Blue Poles', I will print out this review and literally eat my words.
