Based on a 1960s TV series, I Spy is an espionage comedy that teams the up-and-coming Wilson with veteran Murphy. Wilson plays secret agent Alex Scott, who teams up with boxer Kelly Robinson (Murphy) to thwart a plan by arms dealer Arnold Gundars (played, in a bizarre turn of left-field casting, by Malcolm McDowell), who has stolen a top-secret jet.

Wilson has established great chemistry with some of his previous co-stars such as Ben Stiller and Jackie Chan, and he does so here with Eddie Murphy. Murphy himself is in fine form, too, in his best role since Bowfinger. I Spy could have been a limp star vehicle, but instead is packed with goofy humour that fans of action comedies like the Rush Hour movies should enjoy.
