I haven't seen this film, but I want to. This is why: Firstly, it's been called an 'anti-romantic-comedy', and, because I loathe romantic comedies with a passion they notably lack, I find this appealing. Secondly, it is about dysfunctional characters, and I like dysfunctional characters. I can identify with some of them, which makes me feel less alone in this crazy, mixed-up world we live in, and I don't identify with the really creepy and disturbing ones, which makes me feel better, at least for a while. Thirdly, it contains lots of sex and drugs, and is R-rated, so that must mean serious sex and drugs, which can't help but be entertaining, at least at first. And, finally, it's based on a novel by Bret Easton Ellis, who also wrote American Psycho, which was made into a pretty impressive and suitably disturbing film a few years ago
If none of this sways you, then we are from different planets and nothing I could say would get through to you anyway, so there's really no point in trying (now, how dysfunctional was that?)
