Buddy (Ferrell) is a human who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a baby and raised as an elf. He eventually finds out that he's human and sets off to New York to find his real dad (Caan). This movie appeals to both kiddies and adults, as the jokes are a mixture of kid's and adult humour. It's full of fun, fantasy and laughter and is a great escape for 90 minutes. Will Ferrell is starting to prove his mettle as a leading man, graduating from "Saturday Night Live" and his familiar role as a side-kick in other movies such as Old School. I think Elf is a must see for young and old.

Life sucks when the man is trying to buy your parents' home and move you away from all your friends. In the case of the Goonies, a local gang of suburban kids, this really sucks, until they discover some bank robbing crooks sitting on pirate treasure that could save the day. Lucky for the Goonies, only Mikey, their leader by default, has the map to One-Eyed Willy's stash (which can conveniently save their parents' houses!)

The Goonies is a roller-coaster ride from start to finish. It's funny at times, it's scary at times and it had everyone in my neighbourhood looking for treasure for years afterward! The Goonies is all about what it was like to be a kid on an adventure. I still enjoy it (even if part of that is wondering what all the Goonies are doing now!).
