As the title suggests this movie is about getting attention. However, there is a catch - it has to be the right sort of attention. Lolita (Berry) is a curvy girl with a powerful singing voice. Despite her talent her singing teacher overlooks her in favour of her slimmer classmates. That is, until the teacher discovers that she is the daughter of Etienne (Bacri), a famous book publisher. Etienne pays no real attention to those around him including his attractive trophy wife, Karine, (Virginie Desarnauts).
The characters swarm around desperately trying to get their own slice of attention and in the process behave rather badly, with at times comedic results. Karine commits the ultimate evil stepmother act in my mind by admonishing Lolita for eating ice cream. That is just one of the many petty cruelties that are spread throughout this sophisticated French comedy/drama. This film's oscillation between laughter and pain creates a very real and interesting story.
