Captain Jack is back! This time around, Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) is caught in yet another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. It turns out Captain Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones (Nighy), ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. If Jack cant figure a crafty way out of this one, he'll be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation. And, as if that weren't enough, Captain Jack's problems throw a huge wrench into the wedding plans of the blissful Will Turner (Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Knightley), who quickly find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures. As one who never read the likes of 'Treasure Island' or other pirate tales, I had to be told that the character of Davey Jones was indeed not named after the little guy from The Monkees! What sort of villain goes by the name of Davey? It's not very tough and scary sounding. At least the film-makers make up for it by making Davey Jones look pretty cool. It's good to have the original cast back for Pirates of the Caribbean 2, along with some welcome additions such as 'Bootstrap' Bill Turner (Skarsgrd), whose fate I had been left wondering about after the first movie. I'm already looking forward to the third instalment.
