Walt Disneys Silly Symphonies (the title was almost instantly parodied by other studios, giving us "Merry Melodies" and "Loony Tunes") were the prestige cartoons of the 1930s, and this is one of the better ones. Based on ((AElig))sop's fable of the grasshopper who sings and, in this case, fiddles his way through spring and summer, ridiculing the ants who work for a living, only to beg for food from them come winter. The grasshopper has the voice of Goofy.

The classic Oliver Twist' tale returns, with the same plot line as the book (ie. an orphan meets a pickpocket on the streets of London, and joins a household of boys who are trained to steal for their master).Reviews are very positive for this remake by Roman Polanski. With a deep storyline and symbolism, this remake has achieved acclaim with audiences. All characters are well portrayed and, overall, the movie is very popular with movie goers. While some parts of the book have been removed, this actually assists this version. The only criticism is the lack of music throughout the story.
