Laurel and Hardy must haul a piano up a monumental flight of stairs to Professor von Schwarzenhoffens house. For many people, this is the ideal Laurel and Hardy short, with simple but impeccable slapstick building to a crescendo of frayed nerves. This was the comics' only work to win an Oscar (best short subject, 1932).'

Its Dante's (O'Halloran) day off but he's called in to work at the Quick Stop Convenience at 6 in the morning. With a hockey game at 2 o'clock, his girlfriend Veronica (Ghigliotti) pestering him to go to college and threatening to leave him, his ex-girlfriend getting married, and his friend Randal (Anderson) from the video store next door being late, it's certainly not Dante's day.Dante's conversations range from the death of independent contractors working on the Death Star II in Return of the Jedi to discussing a guy looking through the egg cartons in the store for the perfect eggs. With the day continuing, both Dante and Randal ignore their responsibilities at work and do everything from playing a hockey match to going to a friend's wake. This was Kevin Smith's first film, created on a shoestring budget, and has become a favourite film for many. There's no real plot to this movie, just the story of a day in the life of some frustrated and bored clerks whose life is going nowhere. If you're offended by strong language this isn't the movie for you, but otherwise this is a great movie - especially if you've ever worked in retail.'
