Stranger than Fiction must be a hit at the ATO. After all this is a movie about a tax inspector (Ferrell) who finds out that his life is a story that is being written by a voice that he has been hearing in his head (Thompson). It has to be the first movie in a very long time that portrays tax inspectors in such a positive, human light. It really is a movie though that is in the same fantastic vein as Terry Gilliams Brazil or The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Pure escapism and pure entertainment. The actors revel in this as well. Apart from Will Ferrell finally proving his worth outside of comedy roles, Emma Thompson, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Dustin Hoffman all prove more than capable in their respective roles. Is it worth seeing? If you've ever worked in a job where you know that every day will be the same as the last but you crave some form of escape then the answer is yes. Even if you haven't done a job like this, you'll still love the chance to escape and be entertained for two hours before resuming life in Canberra. '
