This is a quintessential, action packed, save-the-day flick that has everything: a wedding, a misunderstood villain, an unfathomably gargantuan and evil force, and a family-like group of heroes working together to save the day. Things appear to be going great for the Fantastic Four. Reed (Gruffudd) and Susan (Alba) make plans to get married, Johnny (Evans) is still "on fire" with the ladies, and Ben (Chiklis) has finally found happiness, but everything is interrupted when the Silver Surfer and Galactus show up, trying to destroy the earth. Its up to the Fantastic Four to deal with them, as well as with the return of Dr. Doom. Freed from the need for the introductions required in the first film, there's much more room for creativity, making it a more interesting film to watch.

One of the biggest improvements over the first film is the fact that the Four work more as a team in this film, and most of the cast acquit themselves very well. Sadly the super-power of acting may be beyond Jessica Alba in this flick, but what can I say, she's still beautiful to watch, and an incentive for reading my edition of The Action Heroine's Handbook. Once you accept that Fantastic Four is not trying to be anything deeper than popcorn fare, you will really enjoy the ride.

28 Weeks Later is a direct sequel to 28 Days Later. Danny Boyle, the original films director, now serves as executive producer, with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo taking up the reins. Due to scheduling conflicts, none of the original cast members are back, leaving the road clear for Robert Carlyle and Rose Byrne to come to the fore.28 weeks after the events of the first film, the island of Britain is being re-populated. Tammy and her younger brother Andy are some of the first to be re-introduced to England via District 1, a functioning section of London. Here, they are reintroduced to their father, Don, who explains to his children that their mother has been killed by the infected. In reality, however, Don had left their mother to their mercy! Bastard! It's a bit of a surprise then when the children find their mother alive! Back at the military compound, it is discovered that the mother's blood type renders her a carrier of the virus. Don (sheepishly) visits her to ask for her forgiveness. In one kiss however, the virus has started again, and pretty soon all hell breaks loose! There are more explosions and action than before, with a hint at a possible third part. Critics have commented on parallels between the film's plot and the current political climate. This may be attributed, however, with any successful zombie/survival horror movie which deals with survivors of a horrific event being forced to also survive each other. Say it together now........raaaaaaaagggge........'
