Tired of the wet London weather, Bean (Atkinson) is delighted when he wins a trip to the South of France, complete with a digital video camera. His adventures range from classy restaurants, complete with strange seafood, catching the TGV (very fast train), to accidentally kidnapping the son (Baldry) of a Russian jury member (Karel Roden) headed for the Cannes film festival. Bean also has wonderful run-ins with Palme dOr contender Carson Clay (Dafoe) which are the highlights of the film for me. It's a comedy of errors, but a clever concept and whimsical execution makes Mr Bean's Holiday a comical joy. If you're a fan of Mr Bean, then you'll be well aware of the fish out of water concept, but if you're new to this humour, then you're missing out on great situation comedy, sight gags as well as funny faces and hilarious filmic references. The pi((eacute))ce de r((eacute))sistance is the inspiring sequence when Bean attends the premiere of the film directed by Willem Dafoe's wonderfully self-absorbed Carson Clay. It is a brilliant piece of cinema and the sight of Bean hanging out of the projectionist's box is unforgettable.'
