10,000 BC follows a 21-year-old mammoth hunter named D'Leh (Strait) living in a primitive tribe that survives by hunting mammoth as the herd migrate through their homeland each year. The tribe is facing extinction, and in order to save the tribe he begins his quest, leading an army across a vast desert in unknown lands. As they travel across the desert there are plenty of opportunities to battle prehistoric creatures from sabre tooth tigers to mammoths (which must be awfully hot in that desert). Along the way they uncover lost civilisations, and pursue an evil warlord who has kidnapped the love of his life, Evolet (Belle).
This film is still three months from release as I write this so some of the details are still a little bit sketchy. This movie is from Roland Emmerich who also directed Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow. If his previous films, and the trailer, are anything to go by this movie will be full of fantastic effects, a whole lot of awe inspiring spectacle and will not require too much thought to watch. Sounds like a great way to spend the night to me!
