With ten female colleagues, I hit the cinema to see how Carrie (Parker) and her friends have moved on since the TV series finished. Charlotte (Davis) and Miranda (Nixon) are both married. Samantha (Cattrall) is also living with her boyfriend and Carrie is planning her wedding to her ideal man, Big (Chris Noth).

The girls have grown up and coupled up so while there are some risqu((eacute)) moments (it is Sex and the City, after all!), it's more about friendship and love. No longer about finding love, this film is about what happens once you find it (you'll hear a similar line in the film).

About half of my group of female colleagues had seen the TV series before we went to the movie and the other half hadn't. Your verdict on the film didn't seem dependent on whether you'd watched the series.

Despite the hype, I had no real expectations of the film. I loved it, and recommend you come along and get Carried Away!

I am a film nerd. I want to see as many films as possible before I die. Family films, action, art-house, silent, documentary, silly comedies, chick flicks.

But I draw the line at seeing this one.

I tried several times to watch the show, but could not get past the four ugliest characters we have ever been asked to like in a television series. The women here are so superficial, mean, materialistic, self-absorbed and downright obnoxious that I don't want to spend another minute of my life in their company (much less 2 hours 15 minutes!)

So I won't be there tonight. And, as a humanitarian gesture, I urge all women not to force their male partners to accompany them, either. Go with a group of girlfriends if you have to. Otherwise, I'm reporting you to Amnesty for human rights abuse.
