Hancock is an action/comedy film about the Superhero Hancock (Smith). Although he might just be a super zero as his well-intentioned super-heroism always tends to combine saving the day with causing immense damage and side-effects. Hancock is often drunk and doesn't really give a darn about what other people think and... the people of Los Angeles aren't impressed. This all changes when he saves Ray Embrey (Bateman) who decides to help Hancock rebuild his image as a thank you gesture. But discovering one's vulnerable side does tend to weaken your defences, which is capitalised on by someone waiting for the right moment.

This new take on superhero films is great. It's very funny, with some excellent action sequences and special effects. Smith does a great job with the character of Hancock and all his faults and idiosyncrasies. The film even does a good job of the drama with a romantic triangle and Hancock's troubles with fitting into our world. A rollicking night out with a super bit of heart.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan is the latest Adam Sandler comedy, a goofball farce about Zohan (Sandler), an Israeli counter-terrorist dynamo, with superheroic strength and a supersized crotch, who fakes his own death and moves to New York to pursue his hidden, lifelong dream - to become a hairstylist. His working relationship with a salon owner, Dalia (Chriqui) is complicated because he has a crush on her, ; and she's a Palestinian - the same country as his seemingly unstoppable enemy, The Phantom (Turturro).

If you're not an Adam Sandler fan then it's probably best you stay away from this one. If you're not a fan of stupid humour then it's probably best you stay away from this one. If you are too highbrow to have enjoyed other films such as Knocked Up, The 40 Year Old Virgin and Superbad then please, for the love of God and for the sake of the rest of us, stay away from this one. If you don't fit in to the above categories then come along and enjoy it for what it is - some light relief that will give you some chuckles.
