Awkward teen Bella Swan (Stewart) moves to a rainy town in Washington state to live with her father after her mother remarries. There she becomes entranced by Edward Cullen, a pale and rather mysterious lad who isn't quite like the other boys. For starters, he can move as fast as a mountain lion and stop moving cars with his bare hands.
Edward hasn't aged in 90 years. Edward and his family are vampires, but choose to live a life avoiding the thirst for human blood. This makes them rather unpopular in vampire circles and they are being hunted down by their own kind. Unfortunately for Edward, his new love Bella isn't the only newcomer in town - and the others aren't quite so friendly...
Teens and vampires; it's a formula that gets reinvented by a big franchise once a decade (the 80s had The Lost Boys, the 90s Interview With The Vampire), but one that will always draw a crowd and with good reason. For the gals it's the undying romance they've always dreamed of. For the guys there's plenty of brooding and blood. This reinvention of the genre will probably appease the gals a tad more than the guys, but there's plenty here for everyone.
