Gay Austrian fashionista, come youth television spokesperson and male model Brüno is fired after a tragic wardrobe malfunction in an all-velcro suit at one of Europe's most important fashion shows. Shunned from his homeland, Brüno heads across the Atlantic to take the USA by storm, documentary crew in tow.
Hot on the heels of the hilarious Borat, Brüno is the latest of Sacha Baron Cohen's "Da Ali G Show" characters to get his own movie. That's not to say this is the dregs of Cohen's oeuvre. In fact Brüno is arguably the character with the greatest room for Cohen to develop on the silver screen, and consequently the movie that long-time fans will get the most out of, as he first appeared late in the show's TV run and simply wasn't around long enough to have all the good jokes wrung out of him. Filmed in the same absurd-character-in-the-wild documentary style as Borat, Brüno is guaranteed to entertain, probably more than it offends. Bring on the lawsuits!
