This Swedish thriller is one of the most exciting and gruesome thrillers currently on the big screen. It is nail-biting, superbly acted, technically brilliant and beautifully photographed – some of the shots of the glorious snow-covered Swedish countryside are breathtaking.
Based on the first book in the trilogy by superstar mystery writer Stieg Larsson (his books have outsold “Harry Potter” in some countries – the trilogy sold more than 12 million copies worldwide in 2009, and he was the second bestselling author in the world in 2008), The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat!
The story so far... on September 29th 1966 16-year old Harriet Vanger has disappeared without a trace. Nearly 40 years later, journalist Mikael Blomqvist (Nyqvist) is contacted by industrial leader Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Tauber) ostensibly to write a history of the Vanger family. This turns out to be a cover for the real assignment: to find out about what happened to Harriet.
Together Mikael and Lisbeth Salander (Rapace), a young goth female hacker, uncover a festering morass of familial corruption and dark little secrets as they try to unravel a mysterious disappearance and a murder.
That’s all you are getting – to find out what happened, you’ll just have to see the movie for yourself. You won’t regret it.
