Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is an Australian produced animated adventure film based on the series "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" by author Kathryn Lasky.
The tale follows Soren (Sturgess), an adventurous barn owlet, fascinated by the tale of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole. The Guardians are a parliament of owls that fought the Pure Ones, who want to conquer the world as they believe they are the rightful rulers.
One evening Soren and his brother, Kludd (Ryan Kwanten) fall out of their tree and are captured by a legion of Tyto owls, the Pure Ones. Soren and a desert owl, Gylfie, escape and set out on a mission is to find the Guardians and save the world.
The cast list consists of some of Australia's most talented actors; Geoffrey Rush, David Wenham, Deborra-Lee Furness, Abbie Cornish, Hugo Weaving, Joel Edgerton, Anthony LaPaglia, Sam Neill, Richard Roxburgh and Barry Otto... just to name a few. The animation is outstanding and the complex plot will keep viewers involved to the end. Often compared to George Miller's Happy Feet, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is a much more visually spectacular film, with a fascinating story for children and adults alike.
