One day, ex-cop turned convicted felon Nick Cassidy (Worthington) goes out on the ledge of a high-rise building to apparently commit suicide. Once he has gained an audience of police and onlookers, he claims to have been set up. While the police try to verify his story and placate Nick, his brother Joey (Bell) conducts a diamond heist in order to prove Nick's innocence.
The first feature film from director Asger Leth, Man on a Ledge is a tense thrill ride, as Nick's plan is not immediately evident from the outset. While he is a man on a ledge, both literally and figuratively, it is unclear as to his motivations, something that police psychologist Lydia Mercer (Banks) is assigned to discover.
What transpires is the revelation of a conspiracy and a tense effort to uncover Nick's innocence, a plan carefully orchestrated to unfold while he is within the public's sight at all times.
Man on a Ledge is a more character-driven affair than one might expect; the lack of grand spectacle leads to a story-based thriller which elicits strong performances from its considerable pool of acting talent.
