It’s been years since the events of Man of Steel, and Superman (Cavill) is still struggling to find his place in the world. While many now revere him as a god and are building statues in his honour, not everyone shares this view. There are those who continue to see him as a threat, an illegal alien (literally) in need of government control. Strongly in the latter camp is a concerned Gotham City citizen by the name of Bruce Wayne (Affleck) who, in case you didn’t know, also happens to be Batman.
Spurred on by escalating fears of Superman’s god-like powers being left unchecked – and hardened and cynical after years of brutal crime-fighting – Wayne decides to take matters into his own hands to bring Superman down. Needless to say, a clash of the titans ensues – all while, behind the scenes, eccentric businessman Lex Luthor (Eisenberg) is also up to no good with a dangerous threat all his own…
Somewhere amongst the fighting and superheroics, Gal Gadot drops by as Wonder Woman and Jeremy Irons plays Batman’s trusty butler Alfred, while Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane also return. And did I mention that The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg all show up at some point too? Blink and you’ll miss them, but fear not – DC has mapped out their Marvel-like universe of films until 2020 so their solo adventures will no doubt be finding their way to a cinema near you soon.
Though hopefully not Alfred: The Movie. That might be pushing it.
