Logan Lucky is about the Logans, who aren’t very, well, lucky. In fact they believe there is a family curse ruining their lot in life. In an attempt to reverse this supposed curse, siblings Jimmy (Tatum), Mellie (Keough), and Clyde Logan (Driver) decide that they need $14 million dollars. As luck would have it, this is the exact amount of the prize money on offer at the legendary Memorial Day Coca-Cola NASCAR 600 race in North Carolina.
But Jimmy, Clyde and Mellie don’t know anything about heists, so they turn to Joe Bang (Craig), who knows a lot about conducting heists – but is currently serving time because of it. Luckily the siblings have a plan to bust Joe out of the slammer. However, things might not go exactly the way they plan with Special Agent Sarah Grayson (Hilary Swank) on their tail.
Director Steven Soderbergh – the Ocean’s trilogy – has come out of self-imposed ‘retirement’ to deliver a wonderful and incredibly entertaining tale of making your own luck. Everyone in the hilarious cast is great, with Daniel ‘James Bond’ Craig completely stealing the movie as Joe, the hilarious redneck who loves his explosives. I guess you could say the film goes off with a Bang!
