In a desperate attempt to redeem himself after taking responsibility for Superman’s death, Bruce Wayne sets out to build a team of heroes to restore hope to the world. Scouring the globe, he brings together an Amazonian warrior (Wonder Woman), a super-fast electrically-charged teen (The Flash), a half-man/half-robot science experiment (Cyborg), and an Atlantean outcast (Aquaman). Together with Wayne in his superhero guise as Batman, the newly-formed team are soon called upon to defend Earth from an otherworldly threat posed by the villainous Steppenwolf.
Tempting as it is, I won’t delve into the DC versus Marvel debate here. If you’ve enjoyed director Zack Snyder’s work in the past, this film continues along in the same vein as Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Of the large cast, newcomer Jason Momoa as Aquaman is an awesome addition throughout while Ezra Miller’s Flash is hilariously awkward. And Gal Gadot is mesmerising once again as Wonder Woman, after wowing audiences with her solo film last year.
If you’re able to ignore the plot holes and continuity issues, Justice League is a fun film to enjoy with family and friends. Just don’t think too hard.
