In this stunning feature documentary, Canberra-born-and-bred director Jennifer Peedom explores the troubled and triumphant history of mankind’s timeless fascination with mountains. Some of you will remember our Q&A screening of Sherpa, a highlight of our Semester One program in 2016. This is Jen’s follow-up film.
Jen has edited 2,000 hours shot by the world’s best adventure cinematographers across 22 countries and has collaborated with the Australian Chamber Orchestra to present a true audio-visual experience. You will get a 74-minute concert of very special music over 74 minutes of very special images. The well-crafted narration is written by best-selling author Robert Macfarlane and delivered by Willem Dafoe. David Stratton called it ‘totally ravishing’. I’m not going to argue with that and I’m sure you won’t too after seeing it.
My advice is to arrive early to make sure you get a seat in the middle of row 5 or 6. This will put you in the middle of our 8.5-metre screen and make sure that you get the most out of this spectacular and awe-inspiring film.
