What more is there to say about Avengers: Infinity War that hasn’t already been said? It’s one of the biggest films in history, having recently blown past $2 billion at the worldwide box office. It converges 10 years of unprecedented, interconnected cinematic storytelling, featuring more than 25 A-list characters and dozens more supporting ones.
But directors Joe and Anthony Russo haven’t just thrown the kitchen sink at the screen. They have somehow achieved the superhuman task of assembling Marvel’s gamut of heroes for a universe-hopping 149 minutes that absolutely flies by, and is actually a damn good film to boot – emotional, funny, thrilling and crowd-pleasing in equal measure.
The plot, for what it’s worth, revolves around Thanos (brilliantly played by Josh Brolin in motion capture form) and his attempt to amass six all-powerful Infinity Stones, which will allow him to 're-balance' an overpopulated universe by eradicating half of all life with a snap of his fingers. So much for good, old-fashioned world domination! Of course, it’s up to the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and everyone in between to band together to prevent Thanos from achieving his deadly goal.
Will they save the day? Only one way to find out!
