** PRESENTED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH AUSTRALIANS FOR JUSTICE AND PEACE IN PALESTINE **
In present day Beirut, a trivial disagreement over a leaking drainpipe escalates into a highly publicised trial between Tony (Adel Karam), a Lebanese Christian, and Yasser (Kamel El Basha), a Palestinian refugee. As the two men face off in court amidst a media circus, old wounds are reopened that increasingly divide the two communities and force Tony and Yasser to reconsider their personal and political beliefs.
Oscar nominated for Best Foreign Language film in 2018, this acclaimed Lebanese film uses the framework of a gripping legal drama to deliver thought-provoking and hard-hitting socio-political statements on modern Middle Eastern politics – as well as a deeply affecting plea for empathy and conciliation.
