The 21st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes us back to the beginning – to the 1990s – to introduce us to the MCU’s newest hero and their first female lead.

Brie Larson plays an extra-terrestrial Kree warrior, caught up in an ongoing battle between her people and the villainous Skrull race. But when a mission goes wrong and she crash lands on Earth, she must team up with SHIELD agent Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, miraculously de-aged) to uncover the secrets of her past and the full potential of her powers.

Aided by terrific supporting performances from Ben Mendelsohn, Annette Bening, Jude Law and a scene-stealing cat, Captain Marvel is another winning entry into the MCU.
