Lords of Chaos is the compelling account of the highly influential Norwegian Black Metal band, Mayhem. The band was extremely controversial due to their notoriously macabre performances, which often escalated into frenzied instances of actual violence, arson, suicide and murder. Blurring the line between show and reality, the film is told from the point of view of the band’s co-founder, Euronymous (Rory Culkin), as he details the gruesome acts that his fellow band members committed in service of image and myth.

Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund’s biopic/horror film comes from a place of passion: he is a Black Metal drummer himself, as well as a Grammy winner and an MTV Music Award record holder. Horrifying yet grimly spellbinding, this is not for the faint of heart.
