Penny (Rebel Wilson) is a petty thief who spends her days swindling men for cakes and sandwiches – until she is noticed by Josephine (Anne Hathaway), a British con artist living the high life. Sensing potential, Josephine decides to take Penny under her wing and sets out to train her as a professional scammer so that they can take down the men who have wronged them together.

Following in the footsteps of Ocean’s 8 and 2016’s Ghostbusters, The Hustle is the latest gender-swapped remake/reboot of popular film. This time, it’s the 1988 Steve Martin/Michael Caine comedy, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Of course, that too was a remake of 1964’s Bedtime Stories, starring Marlon Brando and David Niven, but who’s counting?

Remember Big, that body-swap film where a twelve-year-old boy wishes he was big and wakes up in the body of a 30-year-old Tom Hanks? Well, Little is literally the reverse of that film, as a wish transports overbearing and ambitious tech mogul Jordan Sanders (Regina Hall) back into the body of her thirteen-year-old self (Marsai Martin). And Jordan has no one to rely on but her long-suffering assistant April (Issa Rae) to find a way to revert her back to her normal self.

This comedy from the producers of Night School and Girls Trip is based on an idea pitched by Marsai Martin who was an executive producer on the project. Aged only 14 at the time, it makes her the youngest person ever to work in that role on a Hollywood production.
