Pikachu hits the big screen in an uncannily fuzzy CGI version, voiced by none other than Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds.

Set in Ryme City, in a world where Pokémon live side by side with humans, 21-year-old Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) is on a quest to find his father, an ace private eye who has mysteriously disappeared. Aiding him in his investigation is his father’s old partner: Detective Pikachu, a hilariously wisecracking, adorable super-sleuth.

With a cast including Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy and all of your favourite Pokémon brought to life in hyper-realistic live-action, this is one film you’ve gotta catch.

For years, the secret scientific organisation known as Monarch has been monitoring and studying ancient, god-sized monsters. When they discover that a number of these titans – long thought to be mere myths – have risen and are threatening humanity’s very existence in their battle for supremacy, Monarch decides to seek out the one creature who may be able to defeat them: Godzilla.

This is the third film in the MonsterVerse – following 2014’s Godzilla and 2017’s Kong: Skull Island – and the 35th film overall featuring Godzilla, which in itself holds a Guinness World Record as the longest continuously-running film franchise in history. Along for the ride this time is an impressive cast of human actors/victims, including Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Charles Dance and Zhang Ziyi.
