Beauty is more than meets the eye in Uglyville, a shantytown populated by UglyDolls, a group of deformed toys rejected by manufacturers and deemed too odd to make it onto store shelves. Frustrated by their cast out existence, a group of UglyDolls set out beyond the borders of the only home they’ve ever known to find the Big World, a mythical place where toys are played with and loved by children.
An unabashed ode to being yourself, UglyDolls is colourful cinematic confection filled with sugary sentiment and more original songs sung by A-list pop stars that you can count, including Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monae, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, Charli XCX, and Pitbull. Based on the plush toy line of the same name and – believe it or not – a story by Robert Rodriguez.

The third film from the Oscar-winning team behind Amy and Senna takes an in-depth – and arguably definitive – look at celebrated Argentinian soccer player Diego Armando Maradona. Constructed from over 500 hours of never-before-seen footage from Maradona’s own personal archive, the film focusses on his time playing for Italian club SSC Napoli, after making the move from FC Barcelona in 1984 for a record-breaking fee.
On the field, the charismatic Argentine quickly cemented his status as one of the best football players of all time; off the field, however, his life was fraught with scandals and personal frailties. This documentary captures it all – the remarkable highs and the devastating lows – as it examines the rise of poor boy and the subsequent fall of a sporting legend.
