A worldwide television phenomenon, Downton Abbey was a hit with critics and audiences alike for its six-year run between 2010 and 2015. Depicting the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants in post-Edwardian England, the show featured a who’s who of British screen talent – much of whom have returned for this big-screen continuation of the series.

Set in 1927, the film finds the Crawleys and their staff preparing for a royal visit from the King and Queen of England. As the royal entourage descends upon the titular Yorkshire estate in advance of the visit, the residents find themselves at odds with their visitors – while an impending threat on the monarch’s life may leave the future of Downton hanging in the balance.
