After 1989’s Batman paved the way for big-budget superhero fare and The Dark Knight in 2008 showed that cinephiles could take comic book movies seriously, here comes yet another film that redefines the genre – and also happens to feature the Clown Prince of Crime.
Set in a gritty, Scorsese-inspired version of Gotham City circa the 1980s, the film is a thrilling character study of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a failed stand-up comedian struggling to find his place in society. As Arthur makes one bad decision after another, he begins to realise that the joke always seems to be on him – setting off an escalating series of violent events that define who he will become.

Almost four decades after he drew first blood, Sylvester Stallone returns to his iconic role for one final outing.
For many years, John Rambo (Stallone) has been raising horses on his ranch in Arizona and living out his retirement in relative peace. He’s even developed a special bond with a woman named Maria (Adriana Barraza) and her teenage granddaughter, Gabriela (Yvette Monreal). So when Gabriela is kidnapped by a drug cartel and forced into the world of sex trafficking, there’s only one thing for the violence-prone Vietnam vet to do: embark on a ruthless – and very bloody – quest to rescue the girl and punish those responsible.
