The ANU Film Group’s Zombie Week continues with a zom-com from none other than Jim Jarmusch, director of such gems of American independent cinema as Only Lovers Life Alive, Broken Flowers, and Stranger Than Paradise. And he’s (dis)assembled a cast that you don’t need to be undead to salivate over: from Adam Driver to Bill Murray, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi, Tilda Swinton and more.
Strange things are happening in the sleepy suburban town of Centerville: daylight hours are becoming unpredictable, animals are exhibiting unusual behaviours, and there appears to be no logical explanation for a spate of violent murders. There can only be one conclusion: the dead are rising from their graves and it’s up to the town’s citizens to stop them.

The one that started it all: since premiering in 2004, Shaun of the Dead has spawned countless zom-coms (including two screening this week) and become a bona fide cult classic, with many regarding it as one of the best horror-comedy films ever made. And now it’s back on the big screen in commemoration of its 15th anniversary!
Lovelorn loser Shaun (Simon Pegg) spends his days working at an electronics store and his evenings downing pints at the local pub with best friend Ed (Nick Frost). He’s just been dumped by his girlfriend, Liz (Kate Ashfield), but that soon becomes the least of his problems when their town is inexplicably overrun with zombies. Seizing his chance to finally prove himself, he sets out to save his friends and family from the undead and win Liz back.
