When terminally-ill teenager Milla (Eliza Scanlon) falls madly in love with a small-time drug dealer (Toby Wallace), it’s the stuff of nightmares for her very protective parents, Henry (Ben Mendelsohn) and Anna (Essie Davis).
Things get messy and morals go out the window as the lives of those around the family – including a sensitive music teacher, a budding child violinist, a disarmingly honest pregnant neighbour – become intertwined. Unexpected messy and arrestingly rewarding, Babyteeth is a coming-of-age story about life, grief and the chaos of family, which joyously explores how far we will go for love and how good it is to be alive. Winner of a whopping nine AACTA Awards in 2020, including for Best Film, Best Direction and in all four acting categories.
