In the late 1960s, charismatic activist Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya) becomes the Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, putting him directly in the crosshairs of the US government and the FBI, led by Director J. Edgar Hoover (Martin Sheen).
Hoping to destroy the revolution from the inside out, Special Agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons) makes an offer to petty thief William O'Neal (Lakeith Stanfield): the FBI will have O'Neal's charges dropped if he agrees to work undercover for the bureau, infiltrating the Black Panther Party to gather intelligence on Hampton.
O'Neal at first revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and the FBI, but this soon turns into a battle for his very soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue the revolution by any means? Nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture – and winner of two, for Best Supporting Actor (Kaluuya) and Best Original Song – this is an electrifying dramatisation of racial injustice that couldn't be more timely.
